What is your hobby?

When I first prepared my resume for a job in 2006, the question that I found most difficult to answer was 'What is your hobby?' Having studied in a small school, there was no major focus on sports (we had a 30 minute Sports 'period' on a Friday afternoon). Exposure to books was also restricted to best selling fictional novels till engineering days. The leisure time was mostly spent on chit-chat with friends and watching TV. The realization that chit-chat and TV don't really add up to a decent hobby that one might convey to the interviewer led me to try out different hobbies at different points in time.

However, living in a city like Mumbai where bulk of the time outside office hours is spent in commuting, there is little scope for other activities... In the precious little time that is left, it is very essential to focus on a particular activity (at the max 2 activities) and pursue it diligently to achieve a measurable degree of success

Now, as Agent Smith would tell Neo in 'The Matrix', the problem is CHOICE ... Books, movies, sports, financial planning, business planning, Indian History, politics of India, and not to forget TV and Facebook .... where does one settle down .. One may say that I should opt for the one that I am most passionate about. Having dabbled with all these activities with varying degrees of success, the scales are evenly poised ... am equally passionate (or dispassionate) about all the above ..

This has kind of brought me to a dead end in my pursuit of a stable hobby and the question 'What is your hobby?' continues to haunt me...
